Annie Carruthers
Church Administrator
Annie was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. She is a classically trained opera singer with a degree in Opera & Classical Voice from the University of Miami and a Professional Studies Certificate in Opera & Classical Voice from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has worked as a private voice instructor, a section lead/soloist at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and Swarthmore Presbyterian Church and has performed in both national and international opera productions.
Even with such a rich background in music, Annie has found spiritual fulfillment by utilizing her gifts in church administration. Prior to joining St. John’s she was the Adminstrator at Swarthmore United Methodist Church. Annie views her work in churches (both singing and administrative) as an expression of her faith. She loves being part of a faith community and looks forward to forming relationships at St. John’s.
In her free time, Annie loves reading (especially mysteries and thrillers), watching historical documentaries, hiking, cooking new recipes and taking ballet classes. When she is not doing all of that, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Tom, and her two cats, Franklin and Doodle.
