Volunteer Opportunities
How Can I Help?

We know you're busy and your lime is limited. Maybe you'd like to be more involved at St. John's , but you're not able to commit to a big project or an active committee right now.

There are many ways to help on a one-time or limited basis, and several are listed below. Pick out an activity and give it a try! It's a great way to meet others while helping your church

Worship and Music Needs Your Help!
Volunteer to Serve at Sunday Worship

Usher and reader sign up sheets are now available on the notice board in Fellowship Hall. For more details, please contact Rich Scott or Mike Ruhl.
Philabundance Volunteer Opportunity
First Tuesday of each month

Philabundance has a need for volunteers at the Berks Street location. The next opportunity to participate in this event is February 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. For those who would like to carpool or need help with transportation, please meet at St. John's by 5:00 pm. This important so we can be on-site by 6:30 pm to get started on time. Please R.S.V.P. in advance to Kathy Shaw or Brian Bouvier so we can let Philabundance know how many volunteers to expect and ensure that we have transportation for everyone. For more information, please contact Brian or Kathy.
Chancel Flower Donations

Our beautiful chancel flowers are lovingly given by members and friends each week. If you would like to be a sponsor in 2012, it is time to sign up on the new Flower Calendar on the bulletin board near the coffee cart in Fellowship Hall. Also, please complete an information form located in the pocket by the calendar and then return it to the pocket. The two arrangements are provided by Cowan's Flowers in Wayne who will send a bill for the total amount of $47.70. After the service, the flowers are removed from the vases and placed in disposable containers. You can take the arrangements with you to enjoy at home and/or deliver to a friend, neighbor, relative... anyone who would appreciate a bouquet! If you are unable to take one or both arrangements, the Caregivers for St. John's Deacons will donate the flowers for you. Please contact Judy Mileto if you have any questions.
Broad Street Ministries

We have two opportunities for those who would like to help our brothers and sisters in Philadelphia through the Broad Street Ministeries

You can help us support Broad Street Ministries with their collection of personal items for those in need. Please bring new socks (unisex tube type), new men's underwear (sizes medium to large), women's underwear (plain, sizes medum to large) and deodorant, and place in the box on the stage in Fellowship Hall.

We are also assisting Broad Street with their newly opened Free Food Market, where needy families can shop and make their own selections (unlike food banks that provide pre-packaged food). Acme Markets in Devon has committed to donate fresh food items to the Free Food Market on Mondays and Thursdays, and St. John's is seeking volunteers to transport the items to Philadelphia. If you would like to participate in this wonderful ministry, please contact Linda Groves (formerly Root). Our goal is to create a schedule for our first three months and implement it as soon as possible.
Wedding Committee

Did you know that St. John's has a Wedding Committee? The members of this group take turns helping behind the scenes at each wedding rehearsal and ceremony to answer questions and help keep things running smoothly. If you enjoy weddings and helping to familiarize visitors with St. John's, we would love to have you join us. We have several weddings scheduled during the next two months, so this is an ideal time to get started. If you're interested in learning more about this occasional service opportunity, please call or email the church office. We hope to hear from you!
Recording Worship - We Need Your Help!

Every Sunday we record our service, and the recording is then edited by John Senior and Victor's sermons are downloaded to the St. John's website. CD copies of the entire service are available for the homebound or for other persons who would like to receive them. We need additional people who are attentive to detail to operate the recording machine on occasion as the need arises. John Senior, a professional sound engineer, will give simple instructions to anyone willing to help on Sunday mornings. Please contact John or the church office if you are interested or would like to learn more
Memorial Garden

Our Memorial Garden now contains 16 memorial plates in remembrance of loved ones, and the ashes of a few grace the garden, a sacred and beautiful place. If you would be willing to help groom the garden, please contact Earline Eck.
