The Session is a body of elders who serve for a 3 year term. Because our Constitution makes the Session the ruling body for the local church, all aspects of congregational life are vested in it. The work of the Session is done primarily through its committees. The Pastor serves as an ex officio (but without vote) member of all committees. Committees of St. John's Session are: Christian Life, Worship & Music, Administration, InReach, Christian Outreach, Membership Development, Christian Education, Personnel, and Nominating. The Session is led by a Clerk and Assistant Clerk. |

Deacons are the third ordained office in the church (with ministers and elders). Deacons receive their constitutional mandate through the Session, who are given ultimate responsibility for the ministries invested in the Deacons. The purpose of the Board of Deacons is "to lead the congregation in the exercise of ministries of sympathy, witness, and service, after the example of Jesus Christ." Committees of St. John's Deacons are Flowers (for weekly worship), Nominating, Clothing Drives, Prison Ministries, Food Drives, and a Youth Deacon. The Board of Deacons has a President, Vice President and Secretary. |
